Visual Art Classes
My name is Nancy A. Jimenez De Avila I am the Visual Arts Teacher at Golden Valley High School. I graduated from California State University Northridge where I received my B.A in Fine Art & Teaching Credential. I have been teaching since 2013 and have been here at Golden Valley since 2018.
Classes that I teach...
Art 1= Beginners
- Need class to graduate high school.

- Martials- We will work with graphite, color pencils, markers, construction paper, oil pastel, magazines, glue, and clay.
2-D Art= Students that enjoy art & move beyond the basic.
- Will receive elective credit to graduate

- Martials- We will work with include Art 1 plus... charcoal, watercolor paint, acrylic paint, clay with the potter wheel
- Requirement- Must have taken Art 1 OR have gotten my approval if you are a Seniors
- Approval Instructions- Send me an email if you are a senior. Otherwise, I will ask for your digital portfolio. In google Drive, take photos of your artwork & share that with me. Don't forget to give me permission to VIEW your folder.
AP Studio Art Class for Drawing, 2D Design & 3D Art= Students will create 15 artworks on a Sustained Investigations. This is an independency study class, I will support your creativity & give recommendations.
- Will receive H.S. credit & College Credit .

- Requirement- Must have taken 2D Art OR have gotten my approval if you are a Seniors. You will need at least 5 finished pieces that are high quality works
- Approval Instructions- You will need my approval to add this class if you have not taken me for 2D Art. I will ask for your digital portfolio. In google Drive, take photos of your artwork & share that with me. Don't forget to give me permission to VIEW your folder.
Grades
- ALL Grades are posted on Infinite Campus.
- Google Classroom is just for information only where students can watch videos and see teacher's example.
- Google Classroom is also where students will take photographs & upload it so I can grade with rubric.
- Padlet will be used for class critiques / digital gallery of class work
- ALL assignments will be given a point value, if students are unsatisfied with their artwork grade, they may re-submit for a higher grade BEFORE the last two weeks of each semester.
- I will STOP accepting any late work the last two weeks of each semester.
