The Drug-Free Youth Club will host an event titled "Unshackled: Reclaiming Life Beyond Addiction." This powerful event will feature Melissa Flowers, a certified addiction counselor (CADC II) with nine years of experience helping individuals overcome substance use and behavioral addictions. Melissa is a graduate of ICDC College’s addiction studies program and has worked in both community and residential treatment settings, including the William S. Hart District and KHTS AM radio. She utilizes evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, and mindfulness, while also collaborating with families to support long-term recovery. With 25 years in healthcare, Melissa has worked with specialized populations such as special-needs youth, individuals with HIV or hepatitis C, and the elderly. The event will also include Tiffany Olson, Director and Head Therapist at the program, who brings extensive experience in mental health and addiction recovery. Tiffany will offer valuable insight into how substance use impacts emotional well-being and overall mental health. This will take place in my room, 702, next Wednesday on March 19th during lunch.
